After their penalty for hopping kerbs during qualifying the Hofmann's drivers Chris Randall and Campbell Cassidy were to fall foul of the clark of the course again during an incident packed season opener at Silverstone.
The opening round of Lotus Cup UK at Silverstone Arena GP circuit would see Hofmann's drivers Chris Randall and Campbell Cassidy take to the start in the Hofmann's Lotus Europa.
A blistering lap from Chris Randall in qualifying put him half a second ahead of the whole field but the clark of the course had other ideas. Unfortunately Chris had been spotted by the marshals venturing outside track limits exciting Club Corner and the resultant penalty stripped Chris of his pole time and placed him down the order in 11th place on the grid.
With the sun shining on the Autodromo Monza, Hofmann's driver Chris Randall took a convincing pole position ahead of the factory GT4 Evora. The Lotus Cup Italy was supporting the WTCC but Chris' lap was fast enough to place him at the front of their field too.
Hofmann’s Motorsport are excited to announce a new addition to their driver squad, Richard Bennett. Last year Richard acquired the ex AFN Porsche 993 racer that was driven to no less than 17 consecutive victories by Porsche factory driver Jonny Mowlem in 1997. Racing in the Porsche Club Championship, Richard has already scored top three qualifying performances in the car and with the full support of Hofmann’s Motorsport he hopes push himself nearer to the front of the grid.
Hofmann’s drivers Campbell Cassidy and Chris Randall will be teaming up to compete in the full 2012 championship year in Lotus Cup UK. They will be sharing Campbell’s Lotus Europa that was driven to pole position in last years 1000KM race by Nick Tandy.
